Cultivation of bell pepper

The dream of any gardener - a rich harvest. Bulgarian pepper is a frequent settler of Russian beds, it is characterized by good survival, yield and many useful properties.

The fruits of the pepper are hollow, with thin walls, they can be green, red, yellow, orange.

100 grams of vegetable culture contains a daily rate of vitamin C, in yellow fruits - three daily rates. Freezing pepper contributes to the increase of this vitamin up to 30 times!

The pulp contains folic acid, vitamins A, B, beta-carotene, antioxidants, potassium, zinc, sodium, iron ...

Growing a certain culture, you need to know the details of caring for it. Bulgarian pepper can grow large and juicy if good conditions are provided.

How to process seeds for seedlings

Seeds of peppers for planting are planted in February, three months before planting in the garden.

How to treat the seed:

  • soak in a one percent solution of iodine for half an hour;
  • planting material is kept in warm water for 5-6 hours;
  • put the seeds in a cloth moistened with water, wrap the bag, put in a warm place for two days - the procedure will accelerate the sowing of seeds;

While the material is being prepared for sowing, prepare the soil: mix the soil and sand in equal parts, add two parts of humus. Peppers love wood ash (one tbsp per kg of soil substrate).

How to sow

If the land is prepared, the seeds are processed and ready for cultivation - it's time to sow.

Seeding technology sequence:

  • The soil is laid in the container, spilled with warm water.
  • With a finger, holes are made in the ground two centimeters deep. The distance between the pits 4 cm. It is important to leave in advance a place for the growth of the stem - do not have to dive plant.
  • Seeds are placed in the wells and sprinkled with earth, spilled with some water.
  • The dishes are covered with plastic or plastic wrap - the effect of a greenhouse will accelerate the process of sodding of the material.
  • Tanks clean in a warm place without sudden changes in temperature. Sunlight is not important at this stage of cultivation. As soon as the first shoots appear - it is necessary to provide them with additional daylight, it can be artificial if the weather conditions do not allow the vegetables to bask in the sun.

Agrotechnics growing plants

A week after the germination of the shoots, the film is removed from the surface of the box.

Growing peppers requires care:

  • Watering. Water is required to irrigate the vegetable steadily once a day, before the sun starts to bake or in the evening after sunset. He does not like cold water - before strait it must be defended at room temperature.
  • Loosening the soil is done to better feed the roots with oxygen, water, and nutrients.
  • Do not allow overflow or dry land, it will ruin the culture, will lead to the formation of "black leg".
  • Maintain the humidity in the room, setting the water in the containers, spraying the air from the spray bottle, ensure the circulation of the air flow and regularly ventilate the room.
  • Observe the temperature regime, avoid abrupt change: in the daytime the temperature should be at least 23 degrees Celsius, at night at least 16.

Feeding peppers

During their stay in the seedling state, the peppers need additional nutrition up to two times. How to feed the pepper?

Urea solution (half a tablespoon per five liters of water) - plant nutrition for effective growth. You can add a little ash.

A week before transplanting the seedlings in the garden, half of the tablespoons of superphosphate is added to the above solution. Additionally, water the Bulgarian pepper infusion of nettle.

Hardening of the bushes before landing.

Pepper is a capricious plant, it requires care and attention. Loosening, watering, feeding, weeding - the main care.

Before you plant seedlings in the garden, it needs to be hardened. The procedure helps to strengthen the bush, adaptation before entering into other conditions.

Within two weeks, pets are taken out to the balcony, open windows. Cover the leaves of pepper from ultraviolet rays, keep on the street a couple of hours, increasing the residence time, then completely leaving for the night.

When stable warm weather is established on the street, the earth warms up, the landing of pepper into open ground is realized. This is the end of May - the middle of June.

The choice of location and landing in the ground

When choosing a seat, remember that it must be dark and windless.

In autumn, the soil should be dug up, burst, add potassium and phosphorus. A couple of weeks before the pepper is planted, it is desirable to neutralize it with blue vitriol (two tablespoons per twenty liters of water).

If you are going to plant several types of pepper bushes - plant them far from each other, otherwise they will re-pollinate. Sometimes the beds are separated by a line of tomatoes, corn, peas.

Bulgarian pepper does not like the cold ground, so it is desirable to raise the wells.

If you did not seedlings in peat pots, but in cups, pour the water out before removing the plant - so as not to injure the roots.

The distance between the peppers in the garden should be 40-45 centimeters in length and width. After transplanting into the ground, a vegetable crop is re-spilled with warm water. After the landing of the pepper you need to make a support - to tie the stems to the pegs - the procedure will give stability to them.

Care

The root system of pepper needs to receive oxygen and nutrients through the ground, so it needs to be loosened regularly. After planting, shield the plant from the strong wind screen, as soon as it gets stronger - remove the fence.

Pepper is not very whimsical, does not need excessive artificial moisture. It is enough to water one bush with a liter of not cold water once a week for the first time, then increase the portion of moisture.

When the plant begins to bloom and gather fruit, the water temperature for irrigation should be warm (about 20 degrees). To preserve moisture, the wells are covered with mulch (straw, mowed grass, dried weeds).

Feeding peppers is an important part of caring for them; the procedure is carried out at least three times before harvesting. How to feed the pepper?

The baking plant prefers nitrogen; when choosing a fertilizer, make sure that the substance is present in the composition.

You can prepare an effective "potion" for the beneficial growth of fruits: superphosphate + urea (1 tbsp. Spoon).

Pepper will thank you for feeding urea (1 tsp. Per 1 liter).

During flowering, treat the bushes with potassium, sprinkle ashes from the stove.

Pepper Disease

Sometimes pets can get sick, and help a gardener to help them recover.

Problems:

Symptoms Causes of disease How to treat
Yellow leaves Nitrogen deficiency Dilute urea in water (1 tsp. Per 10 liters) and spray the vegetative mass of the plant.
Opali ovary Boric acid deficiency Spray the plant with boron solution.
Poor fruit growth Not enough items Stir superphosphate with ashes (1 tsp each), pour water into a bucket and water the bush during the period of the inactive sun.

Soak a pack of yeast in a liter of water, insist for 24 hours, water the soil around the plant, sprinkle it with ashes.

Invasion of the bear To process a bush tincture of onion peel.
Pests on leaves Pollinate the culture with ashes
Aphid A bottle of whey to combine with the liquid, process parts of the plant.

Harvesting

The peppers are cut off as they ripen later than the second half of August, before the cold weather. Leave the stems on the peppers, so they will be stored longer.

Growing peppers in a greenhouse

There is an opinion that the most successful peppers are grown in greenhouse conditions - the most comfortable atmosphere and temperature conditions are achieved there. Plant seeds in greenhouses in April. You can plant both seeds and seedlings that are two months old. She has several pairs of sheets and a height of at least 20 cm.

Stages of planting and aspects of care:

  • Podgovit place for the location of pets - to dig up the earth, to form the beds with a distance of half a meter.
  • To form the wells with a distance of 40-50 cm from each other.
  • Put manure, chicken manure into each hole.
  • Plant bushes, sprinkle with earth, pour water.
  • In order to make the stalks strong, they are pinched once every 10 days.
  • So that the stalks do not break off, they are supported by tying them to the pegs.
  • Watering is required every 2-3 days.
  • Pepper requires the circulation of air masses, provided airing and access of oxygen.
