Environmental services and animal advocates are trying to figure out what could have killed several hundred birds that fell directly from the sky to the inhabitants of Winnipeg, Canada.

The inspectors of the environmental service picked up more than 50 dead birds on the street, another 11, who were alive, were transferred to the care of the local animal health society. Its director, Eric Ansevyu (Erika Anseeuw), told CBC News reporters that all the surviving birds are quite active, although they cannot stand and fly. However, these birds will be killed and sent to the pathology laboratory for dissection.

Ansevyu does not yet state any version as to what could be the likely cause of death for the birds. But the animal protector suspects that they found themselves in unfit living conditions. “I do not want to stir up the hype, especially among fans of mystics and apocalyptic prophecies associated with birds falling from the sky.Perhaps they were influenced by some external factors in the form of toxins, and they could also be subject to some kind of disease, ”said Erica Anseview.

Eyewitnesses of an unusual phenomenon told reporters that in the early morning hundreds of black birds, similar to the graves, suddenly began to pour right under the feet of passersby. Birds stuck in the branches of trees, fell on the roof of buses. “In the trees, it seemed to me, there were about a thousand birds. One fell right next to me, ”said local resident Tanya Lee Wiener. Susan Tiganagis, who works as a salesman in a store, said that in their alley the entire sidewalk was covered with a black blanket. “My husband said it reminds him of the Hitchcock movie. It just looked crazy! I was even dizzy, ”Mrs. Tiganagis shared her impressions.
